Frequently Asked Questions

What are the most common hot water system faults AJW Plumbing repairs?

The most common faults we attend include no hot water due to a failed heating element or pilot light, hot water system leaking from the pressure relief valve or tank, inconsistent water temperature, rusty or discoloured water indicating internal corrosion, and strange noises such as popping or rumbling from sediment build-up in the tank. Our plumbers carry common parts on the van to resolve most faults in a single visit.

How quickly can AJW Plumbing respond to a hot water repair in Rockingham or Mandurah?

We offer same-day callouts across Rockingham, Mandurah, Baldivis, Meadow Springs, and surrounding suburbs for most hot water repair jobs. For urgent faults like a burst tank or complete loss of hot water are treated as priority emergencies, so call us directly and we’ll get someone out to you as soon as possible.

My hot water system is not working — what should I check before calling a plumber?

Before calling, check a few quick things first. For electric systems, check whether the circuit breaker has tripped. For gas systems, check whether the pilot light has gone out. Also confirm your water supply is turned on and that no other taps or appliances in the house are showing similar pressure issues. If there’s a leak or a gas smell, don’t investigate any further — call us straight away for an emergency repair.

How do I know if my hot water system is leaking from a serious fault?

A small amount of dripping from the pressure relief valve during hot water heating cycles is normal and typically not a concern. However, a hot water system leaking continuously from the base of the tank, from inlet or outlet pipe connections, or producing a puddle that grows over time indicates a fault that needs urgent attention. Tank leaks often signal internal corrosion and the system may need to be replaced rather than repaired.

Is it worth repairing my hot water system or should I replace it?

As a general rule, repairing your hot water system can be a good option when the system is in reasonable condition and the issue can be resolved effectively. However, if the system is older, inefficient or experiencing ongoing problems, replacement may provide better long-term value. Modern options such as heat pump systems can also offer improved energy efficiency, with WA government rebates potentially available for eligible installations. Our plumbers will assess your system honestly and explain both repair and replacement options, helping you choose the solution that best suits your needs and budget.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I highly recommend Adam. He was able to come out on the same day I contacted him to diagnose an issue with our hot water system. He explained the problem clearly and provided me with different options and information regarding replacement.

Once I decided on the replacement, he had the new system installed within just three days of my initial request. The whole process was quick, professional and straightforward. Very happy with the service!
